Account Security

Account Security

Bertram Internet is now classified as a utility. As such, we are legally mandated to verify the customer’s identity when working with the account.

This includes cases of confirming somebody has service – i.e. if a customer (potential or active) asks if their neighbor John Doe has service, we are unable to confirm or deny that information. The only exception to this is in cases of account referral.

In Powercode, there are two options for account verification, a security code and a security question.

Every account accessed for any purpose, be it support, billing, or anything else must be verified.

If they do not know the security question, they must complete one of the three following requirements:

  1. Must verify the account number, address, and phone number.
  2. Must give the last four of a card, address, and phone number.

After verifying ownership of the account, set up a new security question or code for the customer.

Failure to properly verify accounts with the above process will be grounds for disciplinary action.
